Frequently Asked Questions

Starting 1 week before your appointment, begin moisturising the skin once per day. Having dry and dehydrated skin makes it significantly more difficult for the needle to penetrate the skin effectively.
The night before, shave and moisturise the skin. You’re also more than welcome to leave the shaving to me if you prefer or forget :)

Selecting the correct clothing is essential for allowing access to the area and reducing indentations on the skin. For example:
For sternum tattoos, it’s best if I can see from neck to navel to align the stencil correctly. The best clothing for this is a shirt that can be unbuttoned. Nipple covers or bandages are also excellent if you’re comfortable going shirtless – I can also supply these on the day.
For back tattoos wearing a buttoned shirt or jacket backward is perfect as it allows me full access to the back to align the stencil correctly.
Thongs/flip flops are the best option for ankle and foot tattoos. Avoid enclosed shoes and socks as they can leave indentations and are unhygienic to wear directly afterwards.
Thigh/hip tattoos require intimate access so I usually recommend g-strings, thin bikinis or underwear that can be untied, alongside long skirts, long dresses or long shirts. For extra comfort please feel free to bring a thin blanket to aid in covering up should you feel the need to.

You’re own drinks: water, sugary drinks, etc.
Food: snacks, lollies, premade meals, lunch (we have a microwave)
Comfort items: pillows, cushions, thin blankets, fidget toys.

The studio also has lollies, soft drinks and filtered water available. Privacy screens can be requested for any appointment regardless of the tattoo's placement.
It’s my duty to ensure that you’re as comfortable as possible so please ask if you have any questions or concerns before, or on the day of your appointment!

At this point in time, the studio I work in does not have a separate room for sensitive sessions. We do however, have privacy screens to make the space as enclosed as possible for your privacy.

AfterCare Instructions
The aftercare of your tattoo will greatly determine the way your tattoo will look once it has fully healed as well as how it ages over the years.
Appointment Day – If wrapped, remove the cling wrap from your tattoo when you get home and wash it with clean water. You can either air dry, dab gently with a paper towel or use a clean towel.
Whilst the tattoo is an open wound (approx. 2-4 days) – clean the tattoo twice per day with clean water. You don’t need to apply anything during this time.
Once the tattoo begins to dry up and flake – continue to clean the tattoo twice per day and begin applying water-based, scent free moisturiser twice per day
For 2-3 weeks – no direct sun, no sunscreen, no swimming, no scratching
Extra Info:
Showering is fine. You can expect bits of ink and dead skin to shed from your tattoo, this is completely normal, as is some redness and bruising in the first week of healing.
Avoid wearing tight clothing in the area of the tattoo for 1-2 weeks as this can rub on the tattoo and cause areas to drop out or heal unevenly.
Use sunscreen to protect your tattoo AFTER it has healed. UV rays break the ink down under the skin causing it to fade excessively.
